WA Police Force Expo 2015, A Success!

A full afternoon of police-style entertainment was on show during the WA Police Force Expo at the Joondalup Police Academy, on Saturday 2 May 2015. A crowd of 5,000 plus enjoyed a fantastic display of police resources in one location.

Specialist units from across the agency were on display including Bomb Squad, Tactical Response Group, Major Crash Investigators and Police Recruiting, giving the public an opportunity to interact one-on-one with police from a variety of backgrounds.

A live demonstration of a simulated riot scenario involving 50 role players gave members of the public an opportunity to see firsthand how police would respond to a riot situation in real life. Officers from the Operational Safety and Tactics Training Unit also performed a high risk vehicle stop and demonstrated the use of a Taser.

There was plenty of fun for the kids, with PCYC bringing their climbing wall, BMX ramp and outreach bus to the Kids Zone. The kids also had a ball at the Bright Blue disco which was held in the Learning Centre.

One of the highlights of the day was a performance by the WA Police Commissioner and his band The Filth.

Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the event.

All money raised from the event will be donated to Bright Blue, the WA Police Commissioner’s Fund for Sick Kids. Bright Blue aims to help prevent and treat childhood illnesses, particularly those linked to issues police officers see every day. Check out the great work Bright Blue does in our community.

Thank you to all that attended and helped make the day a very special event.
