Water

When there are signs of turbulence on the water, or people are making waves, the Water Police are generally the first port of call.

The high profile Water Police Specialist Unit provides water borne policing services on Western Australia's waterways and coastal strip.

Officers within the branch are mainly tasked with marine search and rescue operations, planning and coordination of marine search and rescue incidents, marine crime intelligence, underwater recovery and investigations into marine-related crime.

There is great job diversity within the branch, with officers being able to move into one of the four different areas within the unit which are Vessel Operations, Dive Squad, Water Police Coordination Centre (marine search and rescue/marine radio communications) and the Marine Intelligence and Investigation Section.

Entry into this area is particularly challenging and specialist skills are required to work in some Water Police sections.
