Mounted

Patrolling the streets, searching bushland and crowd control may sound like regular policing duties. But for the officers within the Mounted Section, this is all done on horseback.

The Mounted Section provides specialist support to other police at operational incidents and major events. Though officers in this area occasionally attend formal ceremonies such as the Anzac Day parade, this accounts for less than 1% of our time.

While the Mounted Section is based in Perth, officers have the opportunity to travel to other areas of the State.

To become an officer in this section you must have plenty of operational policing experience. Any horse riding experience is desirable but not essential.
