Country

There is an expectation that police officers be prepared to serve anywhere within the state of Western Australia. Country service provides a fantastic opportunity for developing your policing experience in many diverse facets of police work. It is also a great experience to work closely with and within your regional community

Country postings offer great diversity and experience for police officers as they have the opportunity to carry out many aspects of policing. In fact, many police officers rate country service as a career highlight.

There are more than 170 police stations and postings in WA, as far north as Wyndham to the Western Australia/South Australia border at Eucla.

Police officers in country towns handle nearly all aspects of policing and therefore gain a great deal of experience in a variety of roles.

Like most frontline positions, they are often the first people to attend crime scenes, traffic crashes and responding to public calls for help. They are also actively involved in working with their community, including schools, to tackle crime and safety, and often become an integral part of the community.

Police now provide permanent policing services within many remote Indigenous Communities within Western Australia. Multi Functional Police Facility's (MFPF's) have been built as a whole of Government approach to improve service delivery in remote areas. MFPF's have been established in the remote Aboriginal Communities of Jigalong, Warburton, Warakurna, Blackstone, Kalumburu, Warmun, Dampier Peninsula, Kintore, Balgo and Bidyadanga.
